Such an amazing experience! Ashley (Monique) picked us up from port and took us to the animal sanctuary and we had fun talking to her and learning about the island on the way. I have always wanted to meet sloths in person and Arturo and Athena were so precious and sweet and I literally cried when I got to hold them. It was truly one of the happiest moments in my life so far and I’ll never forget it. They also have tons of cute little guinea pigs, mischievous but friendly monkeys and a breathtaking great macaw bird. I also saw cutias (agoutis) running around the property. All of the animals seemed very happy and well cared for and had nice large enclosures and lots of food. The staff were super friendly and informed. They all wore masks and did a great job keeping the different tour groups separated to observe social distancing, so it never felt too crowded for the animals or humans. After about 30-45 mins with the animals Ashley drove us to French Caye to meet our snorkeling boat. We waited about 20 mins for the boat but we didn’t mind waiting at all as there was a little 2 level bungalow sort of structure on the dock which made for the absolute perfect photo opportunity so we took advantage and got some amazing photos while waiting for our boat to arrive. When it did the guides for snorkeling were super friendly and helpful and made it such a fun time (Im afraid i forgot their names ). There were maybe 4 other people with our snorkeling group but the boat was plenty big so it still never felt crowded. The water was simply gorgeous and our guides pointed out lots of beautiful fish and cool structures of the coral reef. It felt exhilarating but never unsafe, even when we saw a barracuda from a distance. When we returned to shore one of the guides gifted me a huge sand dollar the size of a tea saucer! It was such a special experience and of all our Port stops on the Carnival Caribbean cruise, this was definitely the best and the highlight of our trip. Ashley even recommended us a place to go to lunch, Roatán Yacht Club and offered to give us a ride there so we invited her to join us and had a lovely time for lunch afterwards and getting to know her more. She was so cool and we really enjoyed the entire time. Can’t recommend this experience enough!

We took the whole family on the sloth and snorkel tour. Our guide, Philip, was great. He was fully fluent in English, which helped a lot. The sloth sanctuary was awesome. We got to hold sloths and play with the monkeys. The sloth sanctuary was well taken care of. The smoothing was decent. Other places I have been snorkeling they take you out and turn you loose to discover colorful water life. The boat dropped us off and we snorkeled by the coral, but you couldn’t stay in one place long enough to see the fish. We didn’t stop much, and about the time you held still long enough for sea creatures to come out the guide got mad because we weren’t keeping up with the group. We did see some sea life, but didn’t have time to explore on our own. Our snorkel guides were different than our overall tour guide.

When the your was over there was plenty of time left in the day. We asked Philip about other places we had heard about, and he offered to take us for a minimal fee. We dropped the rest of the group at the cruise terminal, and then Philip took us to the west end of the island. We spent the better part of the day checking out different places, and listening to stories Philip told us about the island. Our day in Roatan was by far the best port we stopped at, and Philip made that happen.

The snorkeling was 3-star. The rest of the experience was 5+ star
